My family was coming for the birth, but their flights got canceled. That was when I decided to get a doula to support my husband and me during our home birth. I talked to my yoga teacher, and she recommended Katherine. I was almost 36 weeks pregnant when we met Katherine, but we knew she was the one.My baby decided to come a week after that. Even though we didn’t have the time to establish a deeper connection with Katherine, she was very friendly, sweet, and funny (which made us feel relaxed and calm). She was always checking in on us.
My water broke before my contractions had started, for this reason I had to go to the hospital. The OB on duty at BC Women’s Hospital advised me to stay at the hospital for an induction because of the risks of an infection. I decided to go home. And after that, it was three days of waiting at home for my contractions to start.
Katherine supported my decision and, she gave me great confidence, reassuring my body and my baby knew best. Her advice was always informed and thoughtful.
Once I went into active labour, after the long wait and the long delivery, Katherine help me to work through the waves, giving me the strength and energy to keep going until my baby was born. I’m very grateful for having her as my doula for my home birth.
Katherine was empowering, caring, and a calming presence in our postpartum experience as well.
We would highly recommend Katherine as a Doula for anyone wanting lovely energy and wonderful support, information, and guidance at your birth.
